2018 Gazette issue 1
5 The start of the school year is always an exciting one. Students in Mrs. O’Briant’s and Mrs. Cheek’s class have been busy kicking off the new school year! The classroom has been bustling with activity as we began with a theme unit revolving around land, air, and water. This theme unit proved to be a popular one. Students have also begun a study on North America. We are excited to dive into various geography and cultural lessons that will focus on all the beauty close to home. It is always wonderful to observe the accomplishments of the students each quarter. It brings joy to a Montessori teacher as the students engage in various Montessori materials during work cycles. Students can be seen working with hands on materials in math, language, sensorial, practical life, and technology all in one Pre-Primary work cycle. Students will continue to engage in grace and courtesy lessons as a multi age Montessori community. These valuable lessons support the children in respecting their classroom environment, their classmates, and the environment outside of their classroom. We already have exciting plans for the second quarter and look forward all the Montessori adventures that await us next quarter! Mrs. O’Briant
