4 Hello Charlotte Prep Parents! Welcome to the 2018-2019 year of Builders Club here at Charlotte Prep! For those of you not familiar with Builders Club, please take a moment to learn a little bit about us! The question we most often get asked is, “What are you building?” We are building character. We are building compassion. We are building our community. We are building leaders. Builders Club is a service club, sponsored by our local, Port Charlotte Sunrise Kiwanis. We are responsible for service projects each year helping our school, community, and the world. Our students work very hard all year, as we are very often working on 2 or 3 projects at once. We have earned the National recognition of Distinguished Club the last two years that Mrs. Biansco has been the advisor. Only about 40 clubs in all of North America earned that honor! This is Mrs. Biansco's third year volunteering as the Builders Club Advisor. She, too, was a Builders Club member in Junior High, as well as a Key Club member in High School, and was awarded several thousand dollars in scholarship money for college. Mrs. Biansco has said, "Being Advisor of this club has brought me full circle and is very dear to my heart!" October 3rd will be the club's Induction Ceremony. The students will be officially welcomed to our Builders Club that night. All of our members and officers, will be “pinned” that evening. Our first projects for October are already in the works! We plan to help our CAPA at the Annual Fall Festival again this year, as we have done so annually for many years. Last year was our Inaugural year for an October Breast Cancer Awareness Month fundraiser. We held a hugely successful, schoolwide, dress in pink, campaign. It was so well received, that the kids are excited to do it again this year. That will be Wednesday. October 17th, with a minimum donation of $1 again this year. Following that will be our annual used book drive in November, to coincide with the Book Fair. As you can see, we are ready to get started with another busy year! Our Officer elections were just held. Our new President is Kajsa Carlsen, Vice President is Casey Delzell, Treasurer is Brannon Riley, Historian is Logan Stchur, Sergeant at Arms is Grant Worden, and Secretary is Brandon Gebauer. Builders Club would like to express our sincerest appreciation for all of your support! Each year we are only as successful as we are, because of the support of our families! We can never thank you enough for all you do!
